These are stories about my family and its relationship to the Canadian Pacific Railway section houses around mid-north Ontario/Quebec . Most are funny , some are sad , but all are informative . Enjoy !

Birchbark Baskets and Porcupine Quills
Here is my small collection of birchbark baskets decorated with the quills of those spring time visitors . Porcupine quills are black and white but can be easily dyed ...it is a hair after all . Sweetgrass is often used to finish the edges of baskets . Each of these baskets holds a memory inside as well as those memories of where, when and how it came to me .

thepowmill , Very nice collection - its good to keep memories/history on your baskets! I have 3 from my home town in northern michigan- and knew of the makers. It makes a big difference ( especially down the road ) .I have a small ovall solid quills - natural w / 2 buds on top. A sweet grass w/ bead work on the lid ( small -1930's ) and a beautiful 1940's quill and bark box w/ natural dies - w / diamond and floural designs -6" × 5" w/ lid. The hook has been set-lots of luck and fun in your collecting. duoangele1@gmail.com
